Public Notice Re: Electrical Utility Service

We had a lot of trouble over the holiday weekend with our Over Current Relay Switch- OCR (protection for the power system); we believe that the issues have been narrowed down to a faulty OCR Switch, which is currently being replaced. An email has been sent to our Electrical Engineers explaining the situation and after receiving Alta Link’s permission we are now relying on them for our system protection. It should be noted that there is a backlog of maintenance needed on the Town’s electrical utility system and over the last few years this had been deferred. The electrical utility is costly to maintain properly not to mention upgrade. However the 2017 Operating and Capital Budgets approved by Council have allocated a significant increase in funding to the Electrical Department to start the necessary repairs and for updates to safely maintain our electrical utility over the next year. These repairs will take time to implement but they are underway. We appreciate our Electrical team working so hard to make the immediate and necessary repairs as needed and also for their diligence in ensuring that any upgrades and maintenance performed are done safely and properly which will alleviate as many future issues as possible. Please be patient as we repair and upgrade our electrical system in 2017 to reduce outages for all our customers.
