Weather Advisory Bulletin No. 2

The Town of Fort Macleod is asking the public to avoid travel at this time due to the high winds. Gusts in excess of 120 kilometers per hour are being recorded throughout Southwest Alberta.

If you note power lines down please call 310 โ€“ WIRE immediately. DO NOT TOUCH ANY LINE AS THEY ARE LIVE.
There have been several accidents in south west Alberta involving semi-trucks, and vehicles hauling utility and holiday trailers, resulting in injury and significant property loss.

Municipal fire departments, AHS emergency services and RCMP are being taxed as they respond to multiple incidents.

Please avoid travel until the high winds have subsided.

The Town of Fort Macleod in discussions with our regional partnering municipalities asks its residents to avoid travel on roads and highways at this time, due to the extremely high winds.

Several accidents have taken place due to the weather conditions. Gusts have been recorded in excess of 130 kilometers per hour.

Please remain vigilant regarding the possibility of fire caused by downed power lines. Please take steps to remove ignitions sources to help prevent fire.

Call 911 if you spot a fire, and make every effort to provide a legal land description or your municipal emergency address to Emergency Dispatch, when calling 911
