Due to the persistent heat and dry conditions, a FIRE BAN is now in effect for the Town of Fort Macleod with respect to all open fires within its municipal boundaries.

Councillor Van Huigenbos Resignation

As of February 12th, 2024, Councillor Marco Van Huigenbos announced his resignation from Fort Macleod Town Council, effective Tuesday, February 13th, 2024.

Both Council and Administration respect his decision to step down and have deeply valued Councillor Van Huigenbos's keen ability to pose insightful inquiries that foster meaningful dialogue and his steadfast commitment to fiscal responsibility. We wish him the best and thank him for his dedicated time to Fort Macleod Town Council over the last six years.

Under the Municipal Government Act, a by-election must be held for the vacant seat. Administration will present a report recommending a by-election date to Council at the February 26th, 2024, meeting. Candidate and by-election details will be posted to the Town’s website once a date is approved.
