NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF FORT MACLEOD
IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA

PROPOSED BYLAW NO. 1983

7:00 p.m., October 15, 2024

Town of Fort Macleod Council Chambers

PURSUANT to sections 230, 606 and 692 of the Municipal Government Act, Revised Statutes of Alberta 2000, Chapter M-26, as amended, the Council of the Town of Fort Macleod in the Province of Alberta hereby gives notice of its intention to consider Bylaw No. 1974, being the municipal Waste Management Schedule “B” Amendment Bylaw.

THE PURPOSE of Bylaw No. 1983 is to repeal Bylaw 1974 and amend Bylaw No. 1952 Schedule “B”, being the municipal Waste Management bylaw. Schedule “B” outlines the rates and fees associated with waste management services in the Town of Fort Macleod.

 

Summary of Proposed Changes

Residential collection:

  • Currently, the residential waste & recycling collection rate is $18.21 per month. The proposed change will increase the fee by $2.00 annually for the next 3 years, starting in January 2025.
  • Cart rate: The fee to purchase or replace a residential waste or recycling cart will increase from $100 to $120.
  • Additional Cart Collection: To pick up additional residential carts, there will be a $5.00 flat rate per additional cart each month.
  • Paper Statement Fee: $2.50/month.

Commercial collection:

  • The proposed change will increase commercial collection rates by 2% annually for the next 3 years, starting in January 2025.
  • Paper Statement Fee: $2.50/month.

THEREFORE, TAKE NOTICE THAT a continuance of public hearing will be reconvened to contemplate proposed Bylaw No. 1983 will be held in the Town of Fort Macleod Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th day of October, 2024.

AND FURTHER, TAKE NOTICE THAT anyone wishing to make a presentation regarding the proposed bylaw should contact the Chief Administrative Officer no later than 4:00 p.m. on the 7th day of October 2024.  Both written and/or verbal presentations may be given at the public hearing.

A copy of the proposed bylaw may be inspected at the Town of Fort Macleod municipal office during normal business hours or on our website, www.fortmacleod.com.
