Notice of Public Hearing for Bylaw 1988: Vacant Property Assessment Sub Classes
The Town of Fort Macleod is considering Bylaw 1988, which would split property assessments into "vacant" and "improved" categories for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. This change could affect you if you own a vacant property.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF FORT MACLEOD
IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA
PROPOSED BYLAW NO.1988

PURSUANT to the Municipal Government Act, Revised Statutes of Alberta 2000, Chapter M-26, as amended, the Council of the Town of Fort Macleod in the Province of Alberta hereby gives notice of its intention to consider Bylaw No.1988, A Bylaw of the Town of Fort Macleod, in the Province of Alberta for the purpose of splitting property assessments into sub-classes.
WHEREAS the Municipal Government Act provides that a municipality may pass bylaws to classify assessed property and to establish different rates of taxation in respect to each class of property.
AND WHEREAS Council for the Town of Fort Macleod wishes split property assessment codes for both residential and non-residential into improved and vacant.
THEREFORE, TAKE NOTICE THAT a public hearing to contemplate the proposed bylaw will be reconvened in the GR Davis Administration Office at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th, day of November, 2024.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT anyone wishing to make a presentation regarding the proposed bylaw should contact the Chief Administrative Officer no later than 4:00 p.m. on the 4th day of November, 2024. Both written and/or verbal presentations may be given at the public hearing.
