Annual Pathway Construction

2024 Paved Pathway Program

Project Completed: July 17 to July 25, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that the Town of Fort Macleod has successfully completed enhancements to our pathway system! As part of our commitment to improving community infrastructure, Mayor and Council allocated $60,000 in the 2024 capital budget for this pathway construction, which has now been realized.

Project Highlights:
In alignment with the Town’s Pathway Master Plan, the Water Street (30th Street) pathway was selected for paving. This newly paved section, stretching from East of the Green Bridge to the Old Fort Site, was the 2024 priority and is now ready for use.

Construction Details:

  • Removal: Existing materials were removed to a depth of 150 mm (6 inches).
  • Base Preparation: The pathway was filled with a compacted granular base material to a depth of 150 mm (6 inches).
  • Paving: Type 3 asphalt was supplied and placed, covering approximately 27,770 square feet.

This project has successfully added 1.3 km of new pathway to the existing 1.2 km, effectively doubling the length of our scenic riverside path to approximately 2.5 km.

We are proud to deliver on this initiative, creating more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy Fort Macleod’s beautiful surroundings. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the construction period.

2025 Pathway Construction

The 2025 Capital Budget planning is underway and will be finalized by Council by the end of 2024.
