Annual Pathway Construction

2024 Paved Pathway Program

Construction Dates: July 17 to July 25, 2024

We're excited to announce that the Town of Fort Macleod is enhancing our pathway system! As part of our commitment to improving community infrastructure, Mayor and Council have allocated $60,000 in the 2024 capital budget for pathway construction.

Project Overview: In line with the Town’s Pathway Master Plan, the Water Street (30th Street) pathway has been selected for paving. This section, stretching from East of the Green Bridge to the Old Fort Site, is the 2024 priority.

Construction Details:

  • Removal: Existing materials will be removed to a depth of 150 mm (6 inches).
  • Base Preparation: The pathway will be filled with a compacted granular base material to a depth of 150 mm (6 inches).
  • Paving: Type 3 asphalt will be supplied and placed, covering approximately 27,770 square feet.

Once completed, this project will add 1.3 km of new pathway to the existing 1.2 km, effectively doubling the length of our scenic riverside path to approximately 2.5 km.

Stay tuned for more updates as we work to make Fort Macleod an even better place to live, work, and play. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the construction period.
